Verna McCulley

Verna Gail McCulley was born on November 10^th, 1954 to Glen and Viola Bryan on the family homestead in rural Beaver County, Oklahoma.  She attended all twelve years at Turpin Schools in Turpin, Oklahoma, graduating with the class of 1973.  She received many honors and awards, and was in the top tiers of her class.  Upon graduation, she willingly forwent college to marry the love of her life, Clair McCulley (THS ’69) , on July 27^th at their home church, the Bethel Church of God, that her forbearers founded. 

Verna loved people and cats.  She crafted using all types of media to create hand-made gifts for friends and family.  She took time to visit relatives and make new friends from all over.  Verna and her husband lived full-time in an RV from 1986-2002, allowing them to travel all of the Western United States.  She also enjoyed visiting multiple foreign countries.

Her greatest adventure was moving back to her roots, and reconnecting with old friends and family in addition to making new friends.  Verna was a housekeeper, and was willing to help anybody.  She was involved in Aglow International, Walk to Emmaus, and several churches in various capacities throughout her life. Verna especially loved Jesus, and reading her Bible.  Her insights amazed friends when studying together.

Verna passed into heaven on June 30^th, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen & Viola Bryan, and her baby brother, Troy Gene Bryan.

She is survived by her husband, Clair McCulley; brothers, Doug Bryan (& wife Cliffa) of Bloomfield, NM & Dan Bryan of Adams, OK; Sister Nora Bowers (& husband Bret) of Adams, OK; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Viewing & Visitation will be conducted at Alan Clark Funeral Service on Sunday, July 2^nd, 2023 from 5-7 p.m.
