Thelma Lois “Nub” Carter was born July 25, 1919 near Floris, Oklahoma to William E. and Iva E. (Moody) Eden. She married Arthur “Art” Carter on March 29, 1936. They farmed and raised cattle in the Floris area and lived near Forgan. Nub worked for the Adams Grocery and served as assistant postmaster in Forgan. She had many creative interests including knitting and crocheting afghans and scarves for family and friends. Her family prizes the many beautiful quilts she made during her retirement years. She was an avid sports fan and supported the Forgan Bulldogs for many years. She enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma Thunder basketball teams and she always surprised people with how well she knew who the players were and the rules of the game. She was a member of the Forgan United Methodist Church and coordinating member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Salt Lake City, Utah. She participated in numerous church and community activities throughout her lifetime. Art taught Nub to dance and their love of dancing and participation in “senior citizen dances” kept them young at heart and so much fun to be around. Second, only to dancing, was their love of card games. Nub continued her winning ways with the daily Skip Bo games she played with Mac and Iva Dene after moving to Salt Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; daughter, Chelle Gardner; granddaughter, Deedra Dee Carter; sisters, Sylvia Ross and Goldie Taylor and brother, George Eden. Thelma married Bill Morrow on April 30, 2004 and he passed on January 15, 2007.
