Ralph Davis Hampton

July 20, 1939 — July 4, 2017

Ralph Davis Hampton lost a long battle with congestive heart failure on the morning of July 4, 2017 at his home in Beaver Oklahoma.

He was born on July 20, 1934 at his parent’s home in Grant County Kansas near Ulysses.  At the age of 21 he married Betty Lou Castor of Ulysses Kansas on January 10, 1955 in Lovington New Mexico.

Ralph moved his young family from Ulysses Kansas to Guymon Oklahoma in 1964 while working for Dowel.   He spent most of his life working in and around the oilfield as a truck driver and backhoe operator and ended up retiring from Texas County Oklahoma as a backhoe operator.  He moved to Beaver Oklahoma in 2014.  Ralph loved to fish even when the fish weren’t biting.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou “Castor” Hampton in August of 2014, his father and mother, Willie Riley and Vallie Annah “Ballard” Hampton, 4 brothers, Ray Lavon Hampton, JD Hampton, Hubert Perry Hampton, William Lloyd Hampton, and 2 sisters, Mildred Lee Bullard and Clara Ruth Turner.

He is survived by 3 children, Michael Hampton (Sharon “Ronne” Hampton) of Beaver, Oklahoma, Sue Ellard (Harry Ellard) of Stuttgart Arkansas, and Becky Robinson (Tracy Robinson) of Tyrone Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and his sister Evlon Gindlesberger of Ulysses Kansas and too many nieces and nephews to mention.
