Newton James McVickers

Newton James McVickers, aka the Buffalo Man, 77, of Trinidad, CO, died June 8^th, 2023, in Beaver, OK. He was born October 15^th, 1945, in Lumberton, NC to Ruth Newton Davenport and Neil McVickers. NJ lived a wild and carefree life where he traveled around the country entertaining crowds with his pet buffalo he raised and trained in the rodeo and fair scene. He and his wife, Deborah Hunter, settled and made their home in Trinidad, CO, where made unique jewelry out of antlers and cactus. 

NJ was proceeded in death by his parents; wife Deborah; son Mark McVickers; daughter Maureen Abbott; brother Neil Newton and stepfather, Ed Davenport. NJ is survived by his daughter Sherri (Maton) Mclemore of Beaver, OK, son Troy (Tammie) McVickers of Edmond, OK; brother Ed Davenport Jr of Virginia Beach, VA; first wife Barbara Frost of Midland, MI, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
