Judith "Judy" Carlene Mounts

Judy Mounts, nee Sargent, was born October 19, 1945 to Roy and Velva Sargent of Balko, Oklahoma. She had three siblings, Gerry, Darell and Joyce. Judy graduated from Balko High School in 1963 and from Panhandle A&N College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She married Daniel Mounts on July 9, 1977. She taught physical education and history at Balko Public Schools for approximately 29 years. Judy was the first teacher for the Balko Swimming Pool and taught many children and adults to swim over the years. For many years, she farmed the Mounts and Sargent lands with her business partner, Retha Regnier. Judy loved horses, farming and ranching, camping, her family and her ex-students. She was an avid supporter of the Balko Bisons.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Mounts on February 14, 1997, her parents Roy and Velva Sargent and her older brother, Gerry Sargent.

Judy passed from this life on December 7, 2017 of unexpected heart failure.

She is survived by her brother, Darell Sargent, and his wife, Rebecca and their children, Jason, Lindsey and Kori and two grandnieces, Shawnee and Sadie; her sister, Joyce Neighbors and husband, Alan, and their daughter Whitney; beloved sisters-in-law, Lillian Winters and Marion LaRue Boales and their families, numerous Sargent and Morgan cousins, and her second family, John (deceased) and Retha Regnier.

We want to thank the surrounding communities for your support of Judy after she lost her home in a fire this past January. Your generosity to her is so very much appreciated. We especially appreciate all the help that her friend Pat Lawryk gave her throughout these past months.
