Ira Emmett Bennett, 89, of Beaver, OK, passed away January 21, 2023 at the Beaver County Nursing Home.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 p.m. on January 27, 2023 at the First Christian Church, Beaver, Oklahoma.
Emmett was born November 17, 1933 to Guy Bennett and Ava Margaret Hudson in Beaver, Oklahoma. He began his education in a one room country school house for the first few years and completed his education in the 8th grade at Beaver Schools.
He was a lifetime resident of Beaver.
He served in the United States Army from December 1956 through September 1958.
He married LaVerta Mae Meier May 28, 1960. To this union, two children, Rebecca Lynn and Denny Guy. He married his "Queen" Janet Larue Murrish Shockey February 9, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada and to this union, Ira Braden.
Emmett had a love for antique cars, farming, cattle, and trading, swapping, and bartering for about anything.
He had a gift for gab, which included a unique wit that entertained and amused many family and friends over the years. He was quite the historian and had an amazing memory. Emmett was always available with a story and could fill a room with laughter.
His greatest joy came from spending time with and being "Papa" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His passion for the farm was something all his grandchildren visualized and this was part of their lives growing up. Emmett also instilled an impeccable work ethic in his children.
Emmett was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Ava Bennett, his sisters — Ruth, Ruby, Lola and Vona.
He is survived by the love of his life, Jan Bennett, of the home. Children - Becky

Rae, Tucker Jess Huffman, Mutual, Oklahoma, Landri Brooke, Camdyn Blair, and Preslee Blake Bennett, Yukon, Oklahoma. Ronald Jay Bennett, double cousin and lifetime debate partner, many nieces, nephews, and numerous long time family friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Beaver County Nursing Home for the compassionate care he received.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the First Christian Church, 517 Avenue C, Beaver, Oklahoma.
