Greg Alan James was born on July 17, 1959 in Beaver Oklahoma to MC and Bonita James. He grew up in Beaver, Oklahoma and graduated from Beaver High School in 1977. In school he was active in FFA, showing cattle at the local and national level. After high school he attended OSUTI in Okmulgee where he studied diesel mechanics. He married Krista McDaniel in August of 1981 and moved to Edmond, OK. He went to work for Nicor Drilling as a diesel mechanic until 1985 and then EA Holder where he drove a truck. While working in OKC during the week, he traveled back to the farm on weekends to work the ground and plant. He kept himself busy when he built a modified 4x4 pulling truck named “The Undertaker” and attended truck pulls all throughout the US. He returned to Beaver County in January 1987 and began his full time work on the farm he named Rockin J Farms.
Upon his return to Balko, they had two daughters. His oldest daughter, Kristi was born in May of 1987 and his youngest daughter, Kara was born in April of 1989.
His passion was farming/ranching, growing corn, milo, and wheat. He enjoyed hunting with his friends, and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Greg passed away Monday November 22, 2021 in his home in Balko, OK.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonita James, his grandparents Harold and Opal James, and one grandson Zaydek James.
He is survived by his father, MC James (Becky) of Beaver, OK, two sisters Janice Statzer (Tom) of Edmond, OK and Denise Bennett (Larry) of Okarche, OK, two daughters Kristi DeFord (Kenny) of Guymon, OK, Kara Roberts (Carl) of Balko, OK, two grandsons Braylan James and Kaden DeFord, one granddaughter KaeDena Roberts. He left behind many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
