Gaylen Bryan Miller was born April 7, 1940 to Martha & Bryan Miller in Forgan OK in the house he grew up in. He was baptized in the Forgan Methodist Church. Gaylen attended Forgan Schools and graduated with the class of 1958. He then went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University in 1962. He met Anita Butler at college and they were married June of that same year. He worked for the United States government in the Agricultural department in Little Rock, AR then Phoenix, AZ, and in Washington DC. In 1969 he moved his family back to Forgan and took over the family farm with his brother. In addition to farming, he also did taxes for people and worked at Nichols Water Service. He was mayor of Forgan and implemented getting the water tower installed on the west end of town as well as the first street names and house numbers in town. He was a member of the Lion’s Club for several years and he was president of the Forgan Booster Club. He was proud of getting his private pilot’s license and flew the family to South Dakota for a summer vacation. Many a trip he made hauling his daughter and her sheep to various livestock shows and all the other activities she was in. Later he and Anita lived in Guymon. They divorced and he moved back to Forgan. He truly enjoyed meeting with friends and old classmates for coffee at Ozzie’s. In 2019 he moved next door to his daughter and her family in Guymon. Nearly everyday he looked forward to eating lunch with them and he was enjoying helping with their garden. Gaylen treasured his only granddaughter very much. Getting to travel to Florida for her college graduation and then taking her to Key West to celebrate was one of his favorite trips. He enjoyed listening to her sing and loved seeing her on stage. Gaylen died suddenly the morning of July 1, 2022. He had just returned home from his daily trip to the post office. He is survived by his daughter Bryana Gayle Miller-Gahagan, granddaughter Avenlee Ruthann Gahagan, and his Son-in-law Gordon Lee Gahagan. Even though he occasionally thought Avenlee should get married and give him a great grandchild he could never convince her. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only sibling Jim Miller. He didn’t have any nieces or nephews so Bryana, Avenlee, and Gordon benefitted, with no complaint, from his need to spoil them.
