Edwin Leroy "Tex" Gross

Edwin Leroy “Tex” Gross was born on October 29, 1942, in Glazier, Texas to PD Gross and Beatrice Gross (Ward) and was the youngest of 5 children. He attended schools in Glazier, Texas and Pampa, Texas and eventually made his way to Beaver, Oklahoma where he graduated high school. He worked for Gross Concrete during his junior and senior years. Post graduation he worked for the Texaco service station. He then began work for Groendyke Transport for 2 years and then moved on to Hoffeber Trucking until 1974.

Tex married Donna Chandler in 1972 and later adopted James and Chancie. He continued his extensive work career in Austin, Texas working for his brother-in-law Burl as a carpenter until he moved to Forgan, Oklahoma to work for Nichols Water Service in October of 1977. After working for Nichols, he started Jeter Transportation in 1993 and then worked for Arkhoma Transport and had his own company T&C Trucking before going back to Nichols for five years. He finished his work career at Partners Oilfield Services where he worked until his retirement.

Tex married Charolette “Charlie” Bentley on December 21, 1996. The couple lived in Beaver, Oklahoma and were happily married until her passing on March 1, 2021.

Tex passed away on March 19, 2025 in Beaver, Oklahoma at the age of 82.

Tex is preceded in death by his parents PD and Beatrice Gross; brother Dale and wife Twyla Gross; brother John Gross; sister Louise and husband Burl Brown; wife Charolette Gross; and daughter Heather Devine.

He is survived by his sister Wynona Myers; sister-in-law Marilyn and husband Carol Kelton; daughter Chancie and husband Kevin Getz; son James and wife Stephanie Gross; daughter Toni and husband Bryan Robertson; and son-in-law Lee Devine. He is also survived by nine grandkids, Jeniffer and husband Geremy Draper; Candice and husband Raymond Wallace; Brandon and wife Destinee Robertson; Tiffany Robertson; Stephen and wife Shelby Atkinson; Ryan Atkinson; Wyatt Atkinson; Ted Devine; and Ella Devine; thirteen great-grandkids Haylee Taylor; Maecie Draper; Owen Draper; Luke King; Kiptyn Wallace; Kellyn Wallace; Kreedyn Wallace; Coulter Atkinson; Aurora Robertson; Kimberlie Robertson; Braden Robertson; Blaine Doan; and Tyler Doan.
