Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Oklahoma State University 1961

Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Oklahoma 1963

While working towards his degrees he was employed as a driver for Swift Ice Cream Company. After graduation, he joined the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services as a Social Worker. He remained employed by the State of Oklahoma from 1963 to 1990. After retiring from the state of Oklahoma, he moved to Garden City Kansas to work for the Kansas Department of Human Services and remained with the State of Kansas in various positions until retiring in 2001.

Upon his move to Kansas he met Emilie Rose Elliott and they married on July 1, 1994 in Beaver Oklahoma. He and Emilie lived in Garden City and Manhattan Kansas. After his retirement, he and Emilie moved to to their dream location in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

After Emilie went home to be with the Lord in January 2010, Dennis returned to his childhood home in Beaver Oklahoma where he resided until his death.

Dennis was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver. He lead many Walk to Emmaus retreats and was passionate in working with men through the local prison ministry outreach program. Dennis loved to share Christ with his family, friends, and everyone he came into contact with. Ministry was his true love in life.

Dennis was preceded in death by his wife of 15 years Emilie and his brother Robert “Bobby” Sharp.
