Billy Gene Nichols

Billy Gene Nichols was born on June 14th, 1942 to Eugene Foy Nichols and Vivian Irene (Venable) Nichols in Beaver, OK. He was the youngest of three children and grew up on a farm north of Forgan. Bill graduated from Forgan High School in 1960 and married the love of his life, Margaret Faye Sutton on June 14th, 1960 in La Junta, CO. Through this union, Margaret gave birth to their one and only child, Billy Dean Nichols. Bill graduated college from OPSU with a bachelor’s degree in education, his master’s from NWOSU, and FHSU in administration. 

Bill held many titles over the years from teacher, coach, principal, p.a. announcer for football games, farmer, deacon, but his most cherished title was “Pops.” Bill was a devoted grandpa to his three grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to support them in their sporting events, concerts, competitions, and activities. However, once the great grandchildren came along, Nick, Tenille, and Toni were demoted to 2nd place. The pride, love, and joy Bill had for all seven of his great grandkids was immeasurable. 

Bill loved to travel, play cards, dominoes, fish, spend time with family, watch OU football, read books, watch westerns, and cheer on his grandkids and great grandkids. 

To have and to have known such a kind and Godly man was a blessing. Bill taught his family about the love of God and salvation through Jesus his Son. Bill has made a huge impact on his students, friends, family, and congregations that he has shared the gospel to over the many years. 

Bill peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior September 30th, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Vivian Nichols and daughter-in-law Jeri Jo (Albright) Nichols. Bill is survived by one son Billy Dean Nichols and wife Melody of Forgan, OK, one brother Gary Nichols and wife Bonna of Beaver, OK, one sister Carolyn (Nichols) Ritterbush of Forgan, OK, grandson Nicholas Nichols and wife Mindy of Forgan, OK, Tenille (Nichols) Castillo and husband Josh of Beaver, OK, Toni Jo Nichols of Forgan, OK, great grandchildren Natalie Nichols, Jocelyn Ulery, Finleigh Castillo, Kwenton Frydendall, Alexis Nichols, Taden Nichols, and Breckan Nichols and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and those he loved as family.
